Enkidu and the Harlot: A new fragment of Old Babylonian Gilgamesh

Lecture by Professor Andrew George (SOAS, London).

Abstract

This talk presents a previously unpublished fragment of the Epic of Gilgamesh, and discusses the radical implications of its text for the reconstruction of the episodes in which the wild man Enkidu is tamed and brought into the city of
Uruk to meet King Gilgamesh.
