Main Fields of Study

The cultures of Mesoamerica, the Olmecs, the Mayas, the Zapotecs, the Mixtecs, the Toltecs, and the Aztecs, from their origin, through various stages, and until the Spanish invasion in the 16th century. Classic Ch'olan, the language of the Classic Maya civilization and the hieroglyphic writing system of the Maya. The study draws on a variety of disciplines, such as archaeology, history, anthropology, linguistics and iconography.

Courses are primarily taught in Danish but occasionally courses in English or Spanish are offered.
