The Mentor System

When, as an international student, you enrol at the University of Copenhagen, you have to indicate whether or not you want to be assigned a mentor. A mentor is a Danish student who is  there to help you with the practical aspects of your stay and to introduce you to the social environment at your new section.

At the Department of Cross-Cultural and Regional Studies, we strongly encourage all our international students to sign up for a mentor. The mentors at the department work as a team to make your stay as successful as possible – both practically and socially. Being students themselves, the mentors can introduce you to the social arrangements for all students at the department – both Danish and international.

Throughout the semester, your mentor and the rest of the mentor group will arrange excursions and/or parties for you and the rest of the international students at the department.

Your mentor will contact you by e-mail prior to your arrival in Denmark and it is therefore imperative that the e-mail address that you put in your application is a valid one and that you check it regularly in July/August and December/January. If you are interested, your mentor will pick you up at the airport or at the bus/train station when you arrive and make arrangements for you to meet with your landlord.
