External funding for research

For researchers employed at CCRS

If you wish to apply for funding for a research project to be hosted at CCRS, you must submit your expression of interest to Research Funding South (Forskningsfinansiering Søndre) through the grant application form (KUnet – login required).

Research Funding South has four fixed annual deadlines: 1 February, 1 June, 1 October, and 1 December. Reminders about deadlines are announced in ToRSnyt and HUMnyt.

For applications outside the fixed calls, the expression of interest must be submitted no later than 8 weeks before the foundation’s deadline.

All expressions of interest are forwarded to the management for approval.

NB! In order for the management to assess the suggested projects as well as how the projects and participants fit at CCRS, you need to fill in an application form for hosting of the project prior to the expression of interest above (not relevant if you apply for instruments with running expenses only or the Carlsberg monograph fellowship).

Send the application form to charlott@hum.ku.dk two weeks prior to the deadline for the expression of interest, that is 15 January (for calls with deadlines from March to August), 15 May (for calls with deadlines from August to end of October), 15 September (for calls with deadlines from November to end of December), and 15 November (for calls with deadlines from January to end of March).

For guidance on potential funding instruments, timing, and related matters, please contact research advisor Charlott Hoffmann Jensen.

For external researchers

If you are not currently employed at CCRS but wish to apply for project hosting in connection with an application for external funding, you must complete the following steps well in advance of the fixed deadlines:

  • Contact a relevant researcher at the department to discuss if and how you and your project align with one or more research environments at the department. The researcher will formulate a letter of support to be included in your application to have your project hosted at the department. Your hosting request will not be discussed by the management if a letter of support is not included.

Deadlines for applications for housing approval is 15 January (for calls with deadlines from March to August), 15 May (for calls with deadlines from August to end of October), 15 September (for calls with deadlines from November to end of December), and 15 November (for calls with deadlines from January to end of March).

For any questions, please contact  Charlott Hoffmann Jensen.

If the department management approves your request, you will receive a link to the expression‑of‑interest form.

f you apply for hosting of a collaborative project and intend to apply for co‑funding of your own position, you need to contact the relevant educational coordinator(s) to ask for any relevant teaching tasks in the project period. Based on the teaching needs in the relevant disciplines and your teaching experience, the educational coordinator will consider if you will be able to cover teaching during the project period. The reply from the educational coordinator should be included in the application to have a project hosted at the department.

In the exceptional cases where co‑funding is provided, it is strictly limited to teaching duties for which there is a demonstrable need; co‑funding is not provided for research time.
