My phd project deals with visuality and cultural memories in Greenland. I seek to understand how visuality affects the ways cultural memory works.
In my fieldworks I analyze actual and potential uses of archival film footage in educational and museum contexts. I focus on emotions in people’s responses to films on changing managements of fishing and mining resources and consequent changes in people’s everyday practices.
My project is funded by the Danish Research Council’s means for Arctic Research, and carried out at ToRS and the National Museum of Denmark.
