Master Class with Anna Källén

Dr. Anna Källén from Stockholm University give a master class in two parts at ToRS.

0,8 ECTS for active participation in the whole seminar.

10-12 am: Open lecture by Anna Källen

"The Woes and Wonders of Thesis Writing" to be followed by a discussion on how to structure a coherent thesis outline that takes equal consideration to material, questions and argumentation

12 am -1 pm: Lunch

1-5pm: Seminar (signing up essential)

Pre-circulated texts will be discussed in the afternoon and this part of the master class is open only to those who present texts themselves. All participants are required to read all the texts and be prepared to engage in the discussions. As discussed over e-mail and during the lunch meeting in April, the texts should not be longer than 3 pages and be focused on general issues: basic research questions, the outline of your thesis, fundamental definitions or choice of material. In short: you are invited to present a short text on fundamental issues that you want to share and discuss with your fellow PhD candidates and Anna. Depending on the number of participants will the discussions during the afternoon take place in smaller groups (and perhaps cross groups) and focus on how to build up arguments, definitions and limitations, parts and the whole in the structure of a study.

The seminar will close with a summing up in plenum and a discussion of general themes that have been brought up during the day.

Please sign up for the seminar session in the afternoon not later than 18 May to raudvere@hum.ku.dk

Deadline for the texts to be circulated is Monday 23 May at 9am.
