Adam Almqvist receives a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowship

Adam Almqvist will join Centre for Comparative Culture Studies as a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellow funded by the EU Horizon Europe.

Adam Almqvist's project, Ambiguous State Spaces, examines how contemporary states govern through fragmented and semi-privatized institutional arrangements such as special economic zones and regime-linked NGOs. Focusing on southern Jordan, the project explores how citizens navigate opaque and hybrid governance structures, while developing new theoretical tools for understanding state power through ambiguity. We are pleased to welcome Adam at the Centre and to learn from his important work. Adam is currently a post.doc at Lund University and will join the Centre in September 2027.
