The Women of Deir al-Medina in the Ramesside Period: Current State of Research and Future Perspectives on the Community of Workers
Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceeding › Book chapter › Research › peer-review
The subject of women in Deir al-Medina has resulted in several publications over the years.1 Some of these studies convey information from administrative texts while others take different materials into account. This contribution presents an overview of these studies before turning to examine how we can make use of the surviving evidence to gain further information about the women of Deir al-Medina. As part of this methodological discussion, I refer to two examples from my research and examine several possible avenues for future research within this subfield of Deir al-Medina studies. Ultimately, I argue for a better contextualized approach to the evidence.
