Bio

Adam Zagajewski (b. 1945 in Lviv) is a Polish poet, novelist, and essayist. He is considered as one of the leading poets of the Generation ’68, also known as the Kraków New Wave, and remains one of Poland's most prominent contemporary writers. In the 1970s Zagajewski was associated with the independent literary movement in Poland, his works were banned after he signed the so-called 'letter of 59' - a protest against changes in the Polish constitution – and in 1982 he moved to Paris. In 2002, Zagajewski returned to Poland and currently lives in Kraków.
