Post-2011 Arab diasporas: Non-linear dynamics of identity formation and political mobilization
Workshop with Dr Sarah Anne Rennick, Center for Advanced Middle Eastern Studies (Lund University).
Students, researchers and the public are invited to join a seminar organized by the research project Mediatized Diaspora. Department of Cross-Cultural and Regional Studies, University of Copenhagen.
Sarah Anne Rennick is a Researcher at the Center for Advanced Middle Eastern Studies at Lund University. Rennick will focus on unpacking the complexity of identity formation, political subjectivity, and drivers of mobilization among Arab diasporas in the post-2011 period. Paying specific attention to different diasporic generations and waves of departure in relation to political shifts since 2011, the lecture will explore the new spaces where identity is being formed/reformed, as well as the various forms of mobilization that Arab diasporas groups are undertaking, and how the triadic political opportunity structure informs how, where, and when mobilization occurs.
