Defending Trees, Remembering Hope

Open lecture by Ann Rigney (Universiteit Utrecht).

Ann Rigney is a Professor at Utrecht University, specialising in memory studies, literature, mediation, collective identity, and transnationalism. She recently completed the research project “Remembering Activism: The Cultural Memory of Protest in Europe”, which explores how protest movements, rarely commemorated in public monuments and often ending in defeat, are nevertheless remembered over time in stories that recall hope in the possibility of change. Today, she is giving the lecture “Defending Trees, Remembering Hope”, which is open to all and requires no registration.

The lecture is generously funded by CEMES.
