Extremism through Literature
Literary Talk with Sasha Filipenko

Sasha Filipenko is the author of seven novels, widely translated into more than 15 languages, and a recipient of prestigious awards such as the Prix Transfuge, the EBRD Literature Prize, and the Yasnaya Polyana Literary Prize. His works, including Red Cross, The Cremulator, and Ex-son, combine deep psychological insight with sharp political awareness, often exploring the fragile space between the personal and the political.
Living in exile due to his political views, Filipenko continues to publish both fiction and essays in leading European outlets such as Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, Le Monde, Neue Zürcher Zeitung, and Libération. His novels and plays have been widely acclaimed for their literary merit and moral courage.
In Belarus, the first line of his criminal accusation reads: “Extremism through literature.” That’s also the title of this talk – an exploration of how words can challenge authoritarian regimes.
The event is free and open to all, and will be held in English.
