Call for papers: Navigating Fragmented Legal Systems: Women, Agency, and Access in the Middle East

A new special issue of ScienceDirect focuses on women’s lived experiences of interpreting, negotiating, and navigating legal and institutional environments where state, administrative, religious, and socially embedded forms of regulation intersect.

The issue examines how access to justice, institutional legitimacy, and political authority are unevenly distributed, and how women strategically use, circumvent, or refuse legal pathways under conditions of uncertainty and competing normative orders. The focus is on the Middle East from a comparative perspective.

Abstract, title, and bio deadline: 15 July 2026.
