Primary fields of research
My primary research is about West Greenlandic grammar, especially about syntax, morphology and morphofonology. In this area I focus on aspectual and tense marking in West Greenlandic, and how tense and aspectual marking change over time. Within word formation I focus on the ordering of affixes and which affixes can be combined, especially the aspectual affixes.
Another research area is also withn word formation and syntax, and here I investigate how valency changing affixes alter the arguments of the verb and form passive or antipassive sentences and vice versa.
A third area is within space orientation, and here I investigate constructions where demonstratives and directional terms are combined.
Current research
1. Mood, aspect and tense in West Greenlandic. An investigation on if a inflectional mood marker influence the aspectual and tense marking in a simpel sentence.
2. Valency in the West Greenlandic language. An investigation on how (in)transitivizing affixes alter the arguments of the verbs and change the active sentence into a passive or antipassive sentence.
3. Navigation and orientation in space investigates the use of demonstratives combined with directional terms in an archipelago area in West Greenland.
