Research Communication for the Humanities
This is a day-long panelled workshop bringing together some of Denmark’s professional science communicators to discuss various aspects of science communication for the humanities. Students and interested faculty members are welcome to drop in.
At a time when the Humanities face increasing pressure from both politicians and the public to justify their value, it is more important than ever to explain what the Humanities do – and why they matter. Through research in fields such as history, anthropology, sociology, literature, and the philosophy of science, Humanities scholars offer crucial perspectives that help connect science to human values and ethical reflection. Yet too often, these insights remain confined within academia.
How can Humanities researchers better engage with the wider public?
This Research Communication for the Humanities workshop brings together experienced communicators to explore how to share Humanities research beyond the university. Each session, guided by key questions and led by an expert, features panel discussions on topics such as contributing to public debates, understanding audiences, working with journalists, navigating risks, and considering research communication as a career.
The workshop aims to highlight the importance of communicating Humanities research and to provide practical guidance on how, why, and for whom to communicate. By building bridges between researchers, journalists, and communicators, it offers early-career scholars a valuable opportunity to develop communication skills and explore new professional pathways.
