Michel Serres

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingBook chapterResearch

Michel Serres proposes a philosophy of science based on connections and relations. Adopting an orientation of porosity where rigid categories of knowledge are traversed and deconstructed, Serres’ approach maintains individual truths while working toward better comprehension of the collective human condition. A polymath, Serres bridges the sciences and humanities, bringing diverse thinkers, events, and historical eras together to critique axiomatic truths and hegemonic categorises of knowledge. He suggests new orders, social contracts, and novel politics that show how humans can invent new ways of being in a world founded on violence and parasitism.
