Occult Inspiration: A Pop-up Event on Esotericism in Artistic & Cultural Practices

Creative practice, occultism, popular culture, and embodying new modes of culture creation have long been intertwined. Scholars have referred to this phenomenon as “occulture.” In this pop-up event, well-known podcaster, author, and speaker Conner Habib (host of Against Everyone with Conner Habib) will give a short presentation on creativity, art, and esotericism, offering examples from his acclaimed horror novel Hawk Mountain. This is followed by a roundtable discussion with scholars of religion, esotericism, anthropology, and cultural studies reflecting on key themes from Conner Habib’s presentation. Audience participation and questions during the roundtable are welcome and encouraged. Please join us for this unique, spontaneous event. Open to all!

Conner Habib's podcast, Against Everyone with Conner Habib, is one of the most-respected conversation-style podcasts in the world, with over 300 episodes and millions of downloads worldwide.
