CCBS reading group
The Centre for Contemporary Buddhist Studies organises a reading group that is open to everybody who is interested in ecology, climate change, materials, garbage, dirt, decay, ruins, excess, toxicity, material culture and the importance of cultural imaginaries, beliefs, aesthetics, affect, and yes; we are also interested in religion, spirituality and Buddhism!
We meet on the 4th floor, building 10, on the following dates:
- Thursday 22. September 2022 at 4PM. We will read: Darlington, Susan M: The Ordination of a Tree: The Thai Buddhist Environmental Movement.
- Thursday 29. September 2022 at 1 PM. We will read: Woodward, Sophie. 2020. Material methods: researching and thinking with things. London: SAGE Publications. We meet.
- Thursday 13. October 2022 at 1 PM. We will read something about rivers and water. Suggestions are welcome! (We have already read Alley, Kelly D. 2002. On the banks of the Gaṅgā : when wastewater meets a sacred river).
