Workshop on Digital Methods in Open Source Investigations

Workshop with Azza El-Masri and Jeff Deutch on advanced searching skills. This workshop is the first in a series of OSINT digital methods training sessions organised by the Visual Justice Lab.

We are pleased to invite you to a closed workshop on digital methods for open-source investigations, led by Azza El-Masri and Jeff Deutch, both postdoctoral researchers with the ERC-funded project Before the Image.

In this first training, El-Masri and Deutch will share insights into the first steps of digital documentation methods. Participants will have the opportunity to apply the strategies learned in the session through a series of exercises.

Drawing on extensive experience at the intersection of human rights, technology, journalism, and digital documentation, El-Masri and Deutch bring experience from organisations such as Mnemonic, Meedan, The Engine Room, and Tactical Tech, as well as from advising UN bodies and supporting the documentation of human rights abuses.
